Connectors and MCP

Studio talks to other services in two ways: connectors, for the accounts you already use at work (email, calendar, spreadsheets, CRM), and MCP, for tools that publish their own address or run on this computer. Both live in Customize.

Connectors are yours and follow you across computers. To see them, sign in to your SquadOS account and choose the company.

  1. In Customize, open the Connectors tab and look for the service.
  2. Click Connect. Authorization opens in the browser; when it finishes, the account shows as connected.
  3. For another account of the same service, use Connect another account.

On each connector’s page you see your accounts, what the connector does, and Examples of ready-made requests to take to the conversation. An account that lost its authorization shows Needs reconnecting: use Reconnect. Disconnect removes the account from all your computers, and the conversations that used it can no longer use it.

Connecting an account does not grant anything by itself. In each conversation, use Add tools to choose the service and account that conversation may use. It applies only there; the other conversations stay as they were.

In the service’s menu in the conversation:

  • Adjust actions: choose what it may do, by group: Read and analyse, Create, Edit and organise, Send and publish, Run and automate, Manage access, and Delete and archive. Actions marked Recommended are a good start. Actions that leave the computer and reach other people, such as sending a message, ask for confirmation before they apply;
  • Change account;
  • Remove from conversation.

The available actions respect the limit set by your company.

In Customize, the MCP tab holds the Connections: tools this computer can talk to. Nothing connects until a conversation needs it.

  1. Click Add a connection and give it a name.
  2. In how it connects, choose Through a web address (enter the address) or Through a program on this computer (enter the program and its arguments).
  3. For sign-in, choose No sign-in needed, A key you paste here, or Sign in through your browser.
  4. Use Try it to check that the service responds, and save.

The keys and values you type are kept in the system’s credential store, never in a configuration file. A program connection starts that program with your computer account’s permissions: only add programs you trust.

On each connection: See its tools (asks the connection what it offers), Change, Switch on, Switch off, and Remove. Switching off a connection in use does not interrupt what is already in progress.
